Amelia is an Associate Producer at Spectrum New York 1 News and a recent graduate of Marist College. Amelia is passionate about covering news and politics in New York City. Amelia is especially fascinated by public opinion and polling in the United States. 

Amelia graduated from Marist College Summa Cum Laude with a double major in Political Science and Communications, with a concentration in Journalism. Amelia received the Marist College School of Liberal Arts Academic Excellence Award in Political Science. During her time at Marist, Amelia worked actively at the Marist Institute for Public Opinion as an Interviewer, Head Coach, Media Assistant and Production Assistant. Amelia received the Ray Robinson Distinguished Service Award at the Marist Poll her senior year. 

Amelia studied abroad in London, England with the Hansard Scholars Program and completed courses at the London School of Economics. While in London, Amelia interned with Shout Out UK, a media and political literacy organization.

Amelia completed the Washington Semester Program at American University with a Journalism concentration. Amelia interned with The Hill.TV on the public opinion show, “What America’s Thinking.”

2017 – 2021

– Researches podcast topics and polling data for Poll Hub podcast. 
– Creates rundown for podcast each week, with notes and data for podcast hosts. 
– Creates social media content for Facebook and Twitter.
– Uploads podcast each week and posts on Marist Poll website. 
– Monitors mentions on Marist Poll social media accounts and mentions in the news.

Spectrum New York 1 News

May 2019- August 2019

– Political reporting intern for Spectrum New York 1 News for the show “Inside City Hall,” which airs weekdays at 7 pm.
– Edited videos to be used in show. 
– Researched and wrote about different topics in New York politics.
– Pitched ideas and guests for podcast, “You Decide with Errol Louis.”
– Wrote the script, created and edited the audio and produced a package on the Queens District Attorney Race.

Shout Out UK

October 2019- December 2019

– Created infographics using “Canva,” for social media sites such as Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
– Assisted with creation of content for political literacy e-learning platform. Created posters online, constructed lesson plans for political literacy courses and presentations. 
– Researched and wrote about current events in London and the United Kingdom for Shout Out UK’s website. 
– Assisted with video production for e-learning platform.

The Hill. TV

Jan 2019- April 2019

– Intern for The Hill.TV; a digital news channel with two shows, “The Rising” and “What America’s Thinking.” Both shows provide bipartisan coverage of breaking news, analysis and polling data.
– Researched poll topics and different polls in politics to use for the show, “What America’s Thinking.” 
– Assisted with creating graphics, guest management and tele-prompting during days the show tapes. 
– Worked with show producer and assists with office tasks.
